New version of efficiency standard UNE EN 13624
On 27 July 2022, the new version of the efficiency standard UNE EN 13624 was published. This standard cancels and replaces Standard EN 13624:2013. Chemical antiseptics and disinfectants. The standard applies to products used in medicine in the disciplines of hygienic hand treatment by friction, hygienic hand washing, surgical hand treatment by friction or washing, instrument disinfection by immersion and surface disinfection by friction, spraying. Flooding or other means
The main changes published in this new version are essentially related to the following:
- Inclusion of textile disinfection which was not covered in the previous version.
- Decrease of the quantities under soiled conditions for the modified method for ready-to-use products.
For TEXTILE DISINFECTION, the contact time can be chosen between 5 – 60 minutes. The test temperature shall be between 20 – 50°C for Candida spp. and between 20 – 60°C for Aspergillus spp. The product must demonstrate a reduction of at least 4lg in soiled conditions.
However, the changes of this revision have no impact on the test results obtained with reference to the EN 13624:2013 version.
